Writing

Writing is taught through the Pathways to Write programme, a proven literacy framework developed by The Literacy Company. Pathways to Write is carefully designed to equip children with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful, independent writers.

Each unit is built around a high-quality, vocabulary-rich text that acts as a stimulus for learning. Children immerse themselves in the text through reading, discussion, drama and exploration of language before developing the skills needed to create their own pieces of writing. This approach encourages creativity while ensuring pupils understand the structure, purpose and audience of different text types.

Throughout their learning journey, pupils engage in a range of activities that help them:

• Understand and apply grammar, punctuation and spelling accurately.

Opportunities for discussion, modelled writing, shared writing and independent application ensure that all children are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.
